The Rest of the Story

OK, going to end this travel log with one more blog post.  Whew.  I really apologize for all the posts in a short time.  If I had wifi while on the road, I mean besides my personal hotspot, I would certainly have tried to post as I went.

Cedar Creek Campground on Old Hickory Lake near Hermitage and Mt. Juliet, TN.  Wonderful place.  We had a nice flat place, electricity, water and with our park pass it was only $12 a night.  I would go back here in a heartbeat!04-14-14 iphone 0804-14-14 iphone 0904-14-14 Nashville 1Of course, Buddy loves the water!04-14-14 Nashville 304-14-14 Nashville 504-14-14 Nashville 6And there were deer every evening around dusk.04-16-14 Nashville 0104-16-14 Nashville 03Finally a really pretty sunset.  We had rain a lot it seemed.04-16-14 Nashville 0404-16-14 Nashville 0904-16-14 pics 14This is the view from Tana and Schot’s back deck.  Awesome.  And the turkey were gobbling in the forest.04-14-14 iphone 10Their backyard. Tana says they never use that pretty area but it is nice.04-14-14 iphone 11It was sooo sooo wonderful to see Tana and Shot.  They fed us and kept us entertained.  I am so happy that we stopped there.  And we are planning a Lake Tahoe trip with them in late September!  Wish we lived closer.  I really enjoy their company.04-16-14 Tana and Schot 03On another note, gas from the BP stations was a bit strange for us.  Usually here the diesel pumps are colored green so that consumers know immediately it is diesel.  Ross went to the bathroom at one of the BP stations so I said no prob, I will fill up the truck.  I almost panicked when I started putting the green handle to the filler on the truck. Had to back up about three times and make sure I had it right.  Ross came out and we laughed about it.  Had to take some pictures to prove it.

We left the Nashville area and headed for home.  We thought and thought about heading north or other ways but home was calling.

Through Memphis… or rather around it.

The first night we stayed at a place outside of Little Rock after spending and hour and a half stuck in traffic due to a wreck and finding a new way around Little Rock.  The little lake near Morrilltown was called Lake Overcup.  Very basic but really pretty.

In Oklahoma we stopped a bit earlier and stayed at Lake Thunderbird.  It was ok but not someplace I would seek out on purpose.  04-18-14 Lake Thunderbird OK 0104-18-14 Lake Thunderbird OK 0204-18-14 Lake Thunderbird OK 03Then on to home!04-18-14 travel 07There were fields of these yellow flowers through OK and the Texas Panhandle.  After looking it up, we found they were the new cash crop – canola.  Really pretty!04-19-14 travel 01HOME!04-19-14 travel 05And still under a really bad drought.  Wish we could have brought rain home04-19-14 travel 1204-19-14 travel 1304-19-14 travel 1404-19-14 travel 16

That’s it!  A month away from home and we are right back in the swing of it.  Boys will be playing sports, I am working, and the house and trailer and truck need cleaning.  What else is new.  Let me know if you have questions.
