The Corvette Museum and Mammoth Caves

Ross was really wanting to stop at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY since we were so close.

The museum is really kind of neat, especially if you are a Corvette owner or wanna be.

04-13-14 Corvette 0504-13-14 Corvette 06This little mock up was really precise!04-13-14 Corvette 0704-13-14 Corvette 0904-13-14 Corvette 1204-13-14 Corvette 1304-13-14 Corvette 1504-13-14 Corvette 1804-13-14 Corvette 19Ross really loved the car without the cover. 04-13-14 Corvette 2104-13-14 Corvette 2404-13-14 Corvette 25This picture is made of lots of little pictures.  04-13-14 Corvette 28Isn’t that cool.04-13-14 Corvette 2704-13-14 Corvette 29I want this one.  Brand new of course!04-13-14 Corvette 3304-13-14 Corvette 3604-13-14 Corvette 3704-13-14 iphone 0104-13-14 iphone 03

Do you all remember that they had a cave in there a few months ago?  Yep, a sink hole destroyed or did major damage to about eight really expensive and one of a kind Vettes.  These cars were

  • 1993 ZR-1 Spyder on loan from General Motors
  • 2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil” on loan from General Motors
  • 1962 Black Corvette
  • 1984 PPG Pace Car
  • 1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette
  • 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette
  • 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette
  • 2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette

The museum is open and they have those cars on display. This was inside the room that collapsed.

04-13-14 Corvette 30Ross thinks they will restore this one.  I, however, do not think so.04-13-14 iphone 0504-13-14 Corvette 3104-13-14 Corvette 32Really amazing and I am so glad they display them for us.04-13-14 iphone 04

Next will be the Mammoth Caves!  I almost made another post for them but decided on just attaching to this one.

We have been to Carlsbad Caverns a couple of times so really were going to skip Mammoth Caves.  OK, we were there and there was a campground right there.  So we stayed and saw the caves. They are really different from Carlsbad and a lady in the line with us told us the reason.  Apparently caves and caverns are not the same thing.  Caverns drip water to form those stalactite and stalagmites.  Caves do not have those formations.  After the trip, sorry but I do prefer the beauty of the caverns.

04-13-14 Mammoth Caves 02Bear with me on pictures.  It was not near as bright in there as  it looks.  And no flash was allowed.  Uh huh.  04-13-14 Mammoth Caves 0304-13-14 Mammoth Caves 0504-13-14 Mammoth Caves 0804-13-14 Mammoth Caves 09There were some really huge caves.04-13-14 Mammoth Caves 1004-13-14 Mammoth Caves 1104-13-14 Mammoth Caves 1304-13-14 Mammoth Caves 1504-13-14 Mammoth Caves 2504-13-14 Mammoth Caves 27And some really tight spaces.04-13-14 Mammoth Caves 2804-13-14 Mammoth Caves 3004-13-14 Mammoth Caves 3204-13-14 Mammoth Caves 38This is the road to and from the caves.  Really pretty with the blooming purple trees.04-14-14 iphone 0204-14-14 iphone 0404-14-14 iphone 0504-14-14 iphone 06

So on to Tennessee.  Look for more. I am trying to finish the trip.
