The Capitol, Jefferson Monument and cherry trees

The Capitol of the US

Boy did we luck out when we got tours of the capitol!  Our congressman’s office really did a great job.  There was one of his staff to give us a personal tour and I mean personal.  There were only the two of us.

This shows the original foundation of the capitol.  04-08-14 Capitol 0204-08-14 Capitol 0304-08-14 Capitol 07This was supposed to be a main door but was  not used.  So it is now a decorative piece.

OK, I have a story to tell and darn it, no, I did not get pictures.

So were were asked if we wanted to see Mac’s office.  He was in a meeting but we were more than welcome to see where he did his work.  Yes, we were thrilled.  We were talking to the assistants when the outside door opened.  Wellllllll, in walked Kel Seliger.  He is our senator from our district and was our Mayor in Amarillo.  Well of course we were thrilled of course.  He is so nice and so – well – human.  As we were planning to leave, out walks Mac Thornberry.  So we got to shake hands and talk with both men.  Kel was there with another person to meet with Mac so we just happened to be in the right place at the right time.  Did not even think of getting pictures!  DUH!!!04-08-14 Capitol 4004-08-14 Capitol 4104-08-14 Capitol 42

Jefferson Memorial and Cherry blossoms

We had time to go walking, again, to the Jefferson Memorial and to see how the cherry blossoms were doing.  They are blooming so late this year but we did get to see them almost in full  bloom.  Thank goodness.  I was ready to move on.
