Leaving Washington, DC for Pennsylvania

It was wonderful but it was time to find more adventures.  We really wanted to go to Niagara Falls but due to the cold weather decided to leave that for another trip.  So off we set for Gettysburg, PA.  Yes, I know, another Civil War battlefield.  But it was a great place to visit.

The country landscape is really nice in this part of the country.  Lots of great old and new places.  And rolling land.04-09-14 Gettysburg 00304-09-14 Gettysburg 00404-09-14 Gettysburg 007Gettysburg Museum…04-09-14 Gettysburg 00804-09-14 Gettysburg 00904-09-14 Gettysburg 013More guns…04-09-14 Gettysburg 01404-09-14 Gettysburg 01504-09-14 Gettysburg 01604-09-14 Gettysburg 01704-09-14 Gettysburg 018Isn’t he cool!  04-09-14 Gettysburg 019And then the state monuments.04-09-14 Gettysburg 020This one is cool.  He is pointing to where the fighting was.04-09-14 Gettysburg 02504-09-14 Gettysburg 02804-09-14 Gettysburg 030HUGE monument from Pennsylvania.04-09-14 Gettysburg 03304-09-14 Gettysburg 03404-09-14 Gettysburg 03504-09-14 Gettysburg 039This copse of trees saw lots of action and was where they set up operations.04-09-14 Gettysburg 04004-09-14 Gettysburg 04304-09-14 Gettysburg 044

Then we had a slight mishap… Ross tried to get the truck and trailer off the road so we could walk up to a site and we got royally stuck!  Had to finally call a tow truck.  Yep, the mud beat us.

The more Ross tried to get it out, the more the trailer slid toward the tree. OK, awhile later and $100 and we were out.  Whew.

Here is the Texas monument.  Made of Texas granite of course.04-09-14 Gettysburg 07804-09-14 Gettysburg 07904-09-14 Gettysburg 082Devil’s Den.  Ross was really wanting to see this.04-09-14 Gettysburg 085See the soldier peaking at us…04-09-14 Gettysburg 08904-09-14 Gettysburg 090I just love this monument!!04-09-14 Gettysburg 09304-09-14 Gettysburg 09404-09-14 Gettysburg 09604-09-14 Gettysburg 09704-09-14 Gettysburg 09904-09-14 Gettysburg 100
