Water water everywhere here in Alabama.  I think we are crossing the Mississippi but there are so many rivers, I am not sure.03-22-14 12-12-29 - 0045_exposure03-22-14 12-12-41 - 0046_exposure03-22-14 12-12-44 - 0047_exposureAnd lots of boats.03-22-14 12-12-50 - 0048_exposure03-22-14 12-13-57 - 0050_exposureAnd more of those damn trees.  I found out that these are Bradford Pears. They are more of a round or pear shape (Thank you, Dan!)  There are dogwoods in bloom but the are not so well rounded and more sparse. 03-22-14 12-17-27 - 0052_exposure03-22-14 12-17-38 - 0054_exposureHuntsville, AL03-22-14 12-31-44 - 0055_exposure03-22-14 12-32-46 - 0059_exposure03-22-14 14-06-24 - 0062_exposure03-22-14 14-06-43 - 0064_exposure

It rained most of the night and was 40 degrees that morning.  We left about 10:30 to go find the cemeteries around town. Had to do some real sleuthing to find them especially Tinker Gass.

After passing Long Cemetery about five times we finally stopped at the Baptist Church and asked one of the parishioners if they new where it was.  Hit pay dirt with one who told us who to call and where to go to find the cemetery.  It was right where the GPS said but behind some trees up a hill on a little dirt road. It was in a very deteriorated state.

Our next stop was Brown Gap Cemetery.  This was a nice cemetery and pretty well kept, kind of a perpetual care.

The last cemetery was Tinker Gass and it was at the top of a very steep road and certainly OLD.  Not many graves here but still family.

We got up fairly early to drive over to the Chickamauga Battlefield and meet Kellie and Ada for the tour.  It was great to see them both and Kellie looks wonderful with her second pregnancy. Ada of course was perfect!  Such a cutie.

Battlefield is a huge one and very well marked.  Ross was in heaven with all the history!

03-24-14 Chickamauga 01_exposureLots of the monuments have acorns on them.  This is to signify standing like the might oak against the enemy.  03-24-14 Chickamauga 0803-24-14 Chickamauga 10_exposureUnusual with the flag in black.03-24-14 Chickamauga 15_exposure03-24-14 Chickamauga 16_exposure03-24-14 Chickamauga 17_exposureYes, we climbed all the steps to the top of this one.03-24-14 Chickamauga 24Views from the tower.03-24-14 Chickamauga 28_exposure03-24-14 Chickamauga 3003-24-14 Chickamauga 32_exposure

From here Kellie took Ada home and we went back to Trenton to do a bit more research in the tax office and in the library.  Found lots of information.  That night Lloyd Gass called and we decided to meet with him the next morning to share this information.  More later!
