Womble Reunion 2013–Morse, TX

Where else?  This is home.  It is where we all seem to think of as home anyway.  Those of us over age fifty for the most part.  The younger generation is moving on and forgetting our roots. But that is just the way of life I know.  Anyway, it was a fun reunion despite a small attendance.

Morse is a tiny little town in the middle of farming and ranching land in the northern part of the Texas Panhandle.  And I just love it up there.  So many times I wish I could move there but we are not farmers or ranchers.  We would be lost!  Oh, I would love to have a section of land up there but it would just be CRP land – untouched.

Gone fishin’

Today we took the boys up to our MediPark Lake for a little fishing.  They have not been this year and are really wanting to go to the mountains.  But that will have to wait a few more weeks.  So, off to our little fishing spot.  And the weather was perfect for sitting and fishing.

Poor Zachary got pretty much skunked.  He hooked three or four but the only one he reeled in was on Zane’s rod.  Well, that is turnabout because usually he is catching and Zane is pouting.  And today was a catfish day instead of perch.

Zachary is a very patient fisherman.  He will just sit for hours and let the line drift.07-19-13 fishing 03Zane on the other hand is very impatient.  Hmmm, wonder where he gets that?07-19-13 fishing 04Zane ended up catching five little catfish.  Technically, Zachary pulled in one and Zane the other four. 07-19-13 fishing 0707-19-13 fishing 1007-19-13 fishing 21The main thing was, they had a blast!  We were there probably four hours which is a lot.07-19-13 fishing 13The weather was gorgeous!07-19-13 fishing 18They also took a little time to feed the ducks and geese.07-19-13 fishing 2007-19-13 fishing 26This is a bit blurry as he was far away – a cormorant catching fish.  He was tossing this one in the air and catching it – playing with his food!  But fascinating to watch.07-19-13 fishing 15

After fishing we went to lunch.  What a great day!  Thanks for visiting!

Slow week sort of

It really has not been slow but not full of pictures.  I was busy working and taking care of boys and their comings and goings.  They were the really busy ones.  Swimming, at friends’ houses, going to the concert in downtown Amarillo, scavenger hunts, meeting the washer repairman for Kathleen.  See – busy!

But I did get a few pictures.  The sunrise coming through the clouds…

And this morning I wanted to capture all my little redheaded finches.  I have had doves, red winged blackbirds, and mockingbirds but the finches are really attacking my bird feeders.  May be the birdseed I bought last time.  Going to try one with less sunflower seeds next time.

That’s all. Short post with few pics.  But thank you for looking!

4th of July annual fun time

Fourth of July is our annual get together.  Since we live outside the city limits it just makes sense to have a fireworks party along with food.  We decided to make hamburgers and, of course, homemade ice cream.  Everyone else brought side dishes and other sweets.  Fun was the theme.

I did turn, twist, something to my knee and was having a very hard time getting around.  My pictures were made sitting and not running around as usual.  Oh well, everyone pitched in and helped with serving, setting up, and clean up. The help was so appreciated and I am on the mend.  Hoping to avoid a trip the doctor!
