Now a little about the boys

My grandsons has been busy busy.  First they are busy growing up.  We are trying to let them stay home by themselves a couple of days a week and so far they are doing fine.  But of course since school has been out, one or the other has been gone.  Church camps and church choir trips and soccer trips – always on the go.  Now they are in that summer mode and we are figuring out schedules and things to do.

One thing we like to do is go to the High Noon on the Square on Wednesdays.  We are kind of picky though and pay attention to who is playing or what food they might be serving.  So far we have only gone to one as the boys have been gone for the others.

The Big Texan served hamburgers and Andy Chase performed.  And the weather was GREAT!06-05-13 High Noon Square 0106-05-13 High Noon Square 03And they handed out free popsicles.  What could be better.06-05-13 High Noon Square 04

This week we will go and have pulled pork sandwiches from Texas Roadhouse and hear the Amarillo Symphony.

Zane was at our house while Zachary was at camp and decided to try petting the horses.  Only one really let him close.06-11-13 Zane and horses 0106-11-13 Zane and horses 0406-11-13 Zane and horses 10

Now for Zachary’s last soccer for the summer – I think.  This is what is called a 3v3 tournament.  Three against three, no goalie, LITTLE net and fast.  Zachary played in four games and scored four goals, three in one game, one in another.06-22-13 Zachary soccer 0406-22-13 Zachary soccer 0506-22-13 Zachary soccer 0606-22-13 Zachary soccer 09This was the kick to score his first goal.06-22-13 Zachary soccer 14Header coming…06-22-13 Zachary soccer 15Zachary has really improved as a player in the last year.  Amazes me.06-22-13 Zachary soccer 21

That’s all about the boys for now.  Just want to include a picture I got of the moon last night.  I really wanted a picture with the horizon or some trees or something.  Oh, well, I will take this!  DSC_0336

The changing skies

The skies have been ever changing this summer.  We had had so many wind storms and actually some rain!  Pretty and ugly dirty skies.

Definitely dirt!05-25-13 sunset 0606-08-13 sky 0506-08-13 sky 0706-08-13 sky 1506-10-13 sky 4Rain was heading in…06-17-13 sky 0106-17-13 sky 0406-17-13 sky 12I think this one was due to dirt in the air too.

06-20-13 sky 1And of course the super moon.  The wind was blowing so hard I could not get a decent pictures.  Going to try again tonight for a better pictures.  But it is hard!DSC_0180DSC_0189DSC_0210

And my flowers are actually doing well.  We did not plant a garden but did put some tomatoes in an Earth Box.  They are doing great – after following directions!

06-08-13 flowers 106-08-13 flowers 0206-08-13 flowers 2I love zinnias.  I planted some in the flower beds too.  And other things.  Let’s hope the rain continues.06-08-13 flowers 0306-08-13 flowers 04This is a new tiny little orange rose I planted.  I need more roses!  06-08-13 flowers 08

Gotta do a little catching up…

Once again I have been a bad blogger. I can hear the cartoon in my head where some cartoon character says something about being a baddddd boy.  Yep, that’s me.  Oh, but I am a girl.  Well, old woman.  ANYWAY – June is nearly over and I have not posted.

First we started a major project – redoing our front porch.  It was a mess.  The concrete was falling apart, steps were starting to fall off on one end.  It was time for a makeover.  We decided to brick it like our back porch.  Whew. It became a real job – and we hired someone to help brick it!

See how rough it was.  An eyesore.05-25-13 porch 1Ross cutting bricks.  The red dust was EVERYWHERE!05-25-13 porch 2The side walls are up.  Ross really wanted them to step down too but this worked much better.05-27-13 porch 1Time to pour cement for the steps.05-27-13 porch 2And now the bricks going in.DSC_0124Woohoo!  Just the top to lay.  We had little pavers for the top.DSC_0001We had rain and wind come up after the pavers were put down and wanted it to be a little protected.  Isn’t it lovely.  06-08-13 stepsAll done!  And really nice.06-18-13 porch
