This was the last week of school for Zachary and Zane and also the week they received awards. Zane’s ceremony was Wednesday. He is first grade so the awards are more of a fun, everyone gets something awards. And I messed up my pictures on the big camera so you have to rely on the few I got with my cell phone.
Zane’s award is for Best Storyteller. Apparently his teacher said Zane is very good at making up stories for their writing practice. Zane and Aiden…
Congratulations, Zane! Keep up the good imagination and the good grades!
I took Zane and Aiden home with me for the day since they were released early from school. I think they had fun.
The funniest thing was watching them play on the Wii Just Dance II. I laughed and they had a blast.
Then on Thursday we went to Zachary’s awards ceremony. He is in 6th grade and will be in jr. high next year! And awards for him are a bit more important. There are over 400 kids in 6th grade, divided into 5 teams with 3 homerooms in each team.
Zachary had several awards. Circle of Friends for being so helpful to everyone. Commended on the STAR test in Math. He also got awards for Excellence in Science, Math, and Social Studies. That award is for having a 95 or higher average for the year in those subjects. He had an award for A-B Honor Roll.
Here he is showing the teacher that his name was misspelled – on several of his awards. She was very apologetic and promised to redo all of them. But the biggest award to me was his Outstanding Augustin (The name of his team - I think that is how it is spelled). This award was given to one boy and one girl in his team by the three teachers that taught the core subjects. It is for being the best all around student – courteous, always working hard and tending to business, helpful, all that good stuff. When his name was called, I just cried. So did his mother! We know what a good kid he is and it is just wonderful to have his teachers tell Kathleen what a wonderful son she is raising. I think he was a bit shy about this award, but I know he deserved it!
Congratulations, Zachary! We are just so very proud of the young man you are becoming!
