Goliad and Austin

As we left the Rockport area we wanted to go through New Braunfels to pick up some things at the Camping World there.  The drive took us through Goliad where Col. James Fannin and his troops were massacred and buried during the war for Texas independence from Mexico.  The fort where they were held as prisoners is there too but we did not go through it.  Looking back, we certainly wished we had.  That is now on our to do list sometime.  But I did get pictures – of course.

The monument is huge!04-19-13 Goliad 0104-19-13 Goliad 02This the the Angel of Goliad, Francisca Alavez.  She helped save many of the survivors of the massacre.

After our quick stop in New Braunfels we went on to Austin to spend some time with Dan and family.

I did not get near enough pictures while there.  I really needed one of Melinda.  A weekend full of fun and memories.  Thanks, Williamsons!
