Last stop–Copper Breaks State Park

We probably could have made it home without a stop but would have been so tired and it would have been late.  So we decided to stay one more night in one more state park.  It was hot when we got there so we wanted to get the trailer set up and the a/c going!

There was a gorgeous golden sunset.04-22-13 Copper Breaks 0304-22-13 Copper Breaks 0404-22-13 Copper Breaks 0504-22-13 Copper Breaks 0604-22-13 Copper Breaks 0804-22-13 Copper Breaks 1204-22-13 Copper Breaks 13That turned to a nice pick hue with shots of purple.04-22-13 Copper Breaks 1904-22-13 Copper Breaks 2104-22-13 Copper Breaks 2304-22-13 Copper Breaks 25

But not long after we went to bed, the storm hit!  No rain but COLD and so windy.  We were up or awake most of the night rocking like we were on a boat!  I have never been in a trailer when the wind blew that much.  The next morning we packed up in the freezing wind and bucked that head wind all the way home. I think we ended up getting about 7 miles per gallon.  Ugh.  Don’t want to d that again.  But that is part of traveling.

Thanks for looking.

Goliad and Austin

As we left the Rockport area we wanted to go through New Braunfels to pick up some things at the Camping World there.  The drive took us through Goliad where Col. James Fannin and his troops were massacred and buried during the war for Texas independence from Mexico.  The fort where they were held as prisoners is there too but we did not go through it.  Looking back, we certainly wished we had.  That is now on our to do list sometime.  But I did get pictures – of course.

After our quick stop in New Braunfels we went on to Austin to spend some time with Dan and family.

Goose Island State Park, Rockport, TX

When we got settled at Goose Island we decided to do a little sight seeing as we had to run to the store. We stopped at the RV park we stayed in a few years ago and found the boat and pier damaged in a hurricane was still where we found it and in worse shape than before.04-17-13 Port Aransas 05Look at those piers!  Why someone does not remove the boat and piers I am not sure.04-17-13 Port Aransas 06Next we drove over to Aransas Pass to take the ferry over to the island and Port Aransas.04-17-13 Port Aransas 07See the dolphin out in the bay?04-17-13 Port Aransas 1004-17-13 Port Aransas 11The dolphins were playing around the ferry.04-17-13 Port Aransas 14The waves were really strong on this cool overcast day.04-17-13 Port Aransas 1504-17-13 Port Aransas 17Buddy was totally unsure of the waves.
