Our July New Mexico and Colorado vacation–Part 3–Red River, NM

I probably should call this 4-wheeling.  We went to our favorite campground, Columbine, in Red River as a stop on the way home, planning to stay two nights, maybe three.  After having dinner at Timbers we were walking up the street and saw some friends of Kathleen and Mike’s. They were staying at their cabin up in Valley of the Pines.  Plans were made to meet the next day for some fishing.  This turned into a wonderful visit and some fun for the boys on 4-wheelers.  Needless to say, we did end up staying three nights.

Of course we put up the hummingbird feeder right away and had lots of birds very fast.  Some of these pictures were taken by Mike and Zachary.07-26-12 hummingbirds Columbine 0607-26-12 hummingbirds Columbine 0707-26-12 hummingbirds Columbine 1607-26-12 hummingbirds Columbine 2107-26-12 hummingbirds Columbine 22Here we go with some 4-wheelin’.  The other two boys are Chazden, whose family owns the land and 4-wheelers, and Austin.  These are two of Zachary’s best friends who do sports and go to school and other activities with each other.  So much fun for all of them.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 01Austin…07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 03Chazden teaching Zachary how to ride.  This was a first for Zachary.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 04Zachary on his own.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 09Zane was just a bit jealous but he had a good time too.  Just no driving.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 1007-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 11Chazden helping Zachary out of a bad position.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 1307-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 15He so wanted to drive.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 16Sydney (Chazden’s sister) Mike and Zane.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 1807-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 20Heading off down the road.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 2307-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 2407-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 2907-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 30Hmmmm.  Seems we had a change of seats.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 3107-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 3407-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 36Sydney got Zane dressed in some pretty styling boots.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 38And Zachary gave Zane a great ride.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 4507-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 4607-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 5107-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 5607-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 59Sydney just loves Mike.  How about those boots.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 6007-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 6807-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 6907-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 7007-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 7107-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 7707-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 81A little climbing behind the cabin.07-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 8307-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 8507-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 9607-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 9907-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 10507-26-12 Red River at Shelly Jeremy 117The next day back at camp Ross and I relaxed while they kids went fishing and more fun.

Our July New Mexico and Colorado vacation–Part 2–West Dolores Campground and Telluride, CO

First I have to apologize for the title of my last post. It was supposed to be Mesa Verde not West Dolores. Hopefully this one if correct!

The view from our front door in West Dolores Campground.  This is very beautiful country.  07-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 18Everything is so green and beautiful.  Of course, we got rain just about every day.  Thank goodness because there were fires everywhere in Colorado before we got here.07-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 02This little hummingbird posed for me.07-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 1207-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 0407-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 24I just love this look on Zane’s face.07-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 0807-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 19And yes, Buddy went swimming in the Dolores River.  He loves the water!07-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 20Thank goodness we could have a fire and s’mores.  We were wondering after all the rain if it would happen!07-22-12 West Dolores campground CO 25

We took a little side trip up to Telluride and rode the FREE gondola.  Actually it is like three gondolas.  One has two stops then there is another that goes to Mountain Village.  Mountain Village is a little exclusive town just to the south of Telluride.  Beautiful town.   We enjoyed a lunch at Smuggler Joe’s Brew Pub.  Pretty darn good!
