June camping trip Part 2–Lake Isabel

Kathleen and Mike picked up the boys on Thursday to go to Denver for a soccer tournament (which Zachary’s team won, by the way).  So we stayed that night in Sugarite then headed up to Lake Isabel, just outside of Colorado City, CO.  It is a very pretty area but a bit windy for most of the time we were there.  And we never saw any, but apparently the bears were in rare form before we got there, trying out trash cans and water containers in some of the sites.

The end of another great trip!

June camping trip Part 1–Sugarite Canyon

We took a trip to a camping area that used to be a ski area many years ago.  There was just not enough snow to keep it going so it was soon turned into a New Mexico state park.  The name of the area is Sugarite Canyon.  Last year it was pretty much devastated by a huge forest fire but seems to be surviving well.
