Williams, AZ–a unique little town

Our next little layover was the small mountain town of Williams, Arizona.  We don’t often think of the mountains in Arizona but they are there.  This is one of our favorite parts of Arizona.  We really like the Flagstaff area and Williams is just the other side Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon.  The area most visited consists of two main one way streets.  One goes east bound through the shops and motels while the other goes west bound on the “back” side beside the railroad and visitor’s center.  This is old Route 66.

Love this old town atmosphere.  There is a newer part of Williams but this just calls for the tourist in all of us.04-25-12 6 Williams AZ 1004-25-12 6 Williams AZ 01Some neat old buildings that you know used to hear the trucks back when it was of US66.04-25-12 6 Williams AZ 0304-25-12 6 Williams AZ 0404-25-12 6 Williams AZ 0504-25-12 6 Williams AZ 06This little area was not open but looked like fun.04-25-12 6 Williams AZ 07Pretty cool posts to hold up the front.04-25-12 6 Williams AZ 09This dog was waiting for his master at the curb.  He did not hardly look at me as I talked to him.  Just morosely looking for his friend.04-25-12 6 Williams AZ 11Of course Ross loved the music at the restaurant.  We did go in and have an appetizer and beer and listened.04-25-12 6 Williams AZ 13Elvis lives!  In a statue.04-25-12 6 Williams AZ 14

It fun stop.  Very relaxing.  On to the Grand Canyon.
