Thursday I went to the Amarillo Zoo with twelve preschoolers. OK, not me by myself! With Zane’s school group. They were all VERY well behaved. The animals were up and moving and viewable for the most part. It started out a very cool morning but no wind.
Here we are waiting to go in when the zoo opens. It was busy there. Lots of school groups!
First stop was the lizard/snake house - Herpetarium. Indoors and warm. ![]()

Next we stopped to see the buffalo, elk, and pronghorn antelope. We were really lucky as they were right by the pavilion. You could almost touch them!

And leopards… Bears are later.

A serval. Yes, I thought for the longest it was an ocelot.
Potty break.
Smart teachers brought water, snacks AND blankets! ![]()
Then we lined up to go to the playground.
And passed by the bears – finally out for us to see.
Had to grab a quick group photo. You can barely see the ones behind the sign. Hmmm, poor planning.
And then they played out a lot of energy on the playground.
So much fun!!
