Last weekend my two sisters, Cynthia and Molly, and I took a girls’ trip to Taos, NM. Cynthia’s boss, Elaine, has a condo on the slopes in the ski valley and graciously let us use it. It was great. We had a blast (except for Cynthia twisting her ankle)!
Our first stop was in Endee, NM. Just a wide spot on the road but they have a new truck stop, Russell’s, that has a big showroom for some classic cars. I need to drag Ross back there. He will love it.
The colors were at the end of the changes but golden! And the views were awesome.
We took a really rural route and between Wagon Mound and Ocate we saw a bear. Sorry, no picture. He was so scared he loped into the road then shot back across and up into the rocks. He was a beautiful golden color. I was trying to grab my camera to get out of the truck but Molly was screaming yelling telling me and shaking her finger “YOU WILL NOT GET OUT OF THIS TRUCK!!!!!” We laughed all the way to the condo. I mean, it made my stomach muscles hurt it was so funny. Yes, my baby sister thought she could tell me what to do. And I was so smart, I told her he was probably only two years old. OK, how did I know that and what difference would it make. Sheesh. Such smarties.
We found a really cool old cemetery. I love old cemeteries. So much history there.
Don’t you love Molly’s yoga pose?
Interesting on this stone that the black is in the heart carved on the back.
Hammerhead for a grave marker.
Anyway, we saw elk, wild turkey, and a tarantula. No deer. Oh, and lots of antelope.
But it was the colors that were just awesome!!!

The dirt road just added to the beauty.

Tomorrow I will post pictures of the first snow of the season up in the Taos Ski Area.
