Running through the banner

Last week was the first time our football heros got to run through a banner and it was a bit confusing to them.  No one was really ready for that spirit raising yell.  Just burst through and go.  This week was very different.  They were ready!

If there is sand, it is a sandbox – according to little boys

Zachary was playing football on a local junior high field.  To the side of the field is part of the track equipment including the run and jump or hop, skip, jump or long jump.  I am not sure which.  But to these little boys, it was a sandbox!  At times they would go down the long track and RUN and jump into the sand.  But mostly, it was for building roads and houses.  The sand was wet from the previous night’s water.  Notice any little girls?  Nope.  I’ll bet these boys left lots of sand in cars and carpet.  They spent over an hour happily playing.  And I’ll bet they head right back there at today’s football game09-25-10 Zane playing 0109-25-10 Zane playing 0209-25-10 Zane playing 0309-25-10 Zane playing 0409-25-10 Zane playing 06

Horses and birds

We have had lots and lots of the “cattle” egrets in the field behind us and to the east section where lots of head of cattle graze.  They will swoop up in great clouds then fly away for a bit.  I have tried to capture them in flight but and always a day late and a dollar short, as the saying goes.  I could see some following the horses in the field and went back to take a few pictures, hoping they would fly up.

Had a little helper

Just Zane trying to “help”.  He always wants to use a screwdriver or hammer and help.  We have to be inventive and let him bang away somewhere.  And watch that screwdriver!

And here is a plug and a plea

This post is for a cause. Pedigree® is sponsoring an Adoption Drive – they are donating a bowl of dog food for every "like" they get on their facebook page. If you go here and "like" them, one more shelter dog will get a bowl of food. But that's not all.

For every blog that mentions the Adoption Drive between Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 19, Pedigree® will donate a 20-lb. bag of food to a shelter. If you've got a blog, there's still time to write a post and help a dog. Enter the link to your blog post here to participate.

I don’t have a dog at this time but recommend adopting.  Kathleen adopted Chewy from the streets.  If you are thinking about a dog, check your shelters.

A very busy football and soccer season begins…

Today was the first day of Zachary’s football and soccer games.  He will have two soccer games and two football games this weekend.  Then next weekend Zane starts soccer.  Ross says we need to leave town.  Kidding of course.  But it may get really fast and furious before the end of October.  Sigh.  I really do love watching but wow, scheduling.

Here we go.  I took 60 pictures at football.  This is Zachary’s first time to play tackle football. Don’t worry, I won’t subject you to all of them.  In fact, I did delete a few.

It was a great game – even though they lost 0-6.  That is just not bad for the first game.09-18-10 First tackle game Zachary 41 And yes, I have just a few pictures of the soccer to share.  After all, they have new uniforms this year.  Pretty red and white stripes!  Oh, the red and other colors in Zachary’s hair – just the stuff they sprayed in at the school carnival the night before.  I am sure someday it will wear off.

Hang on for next week.  Zane’s first soccer game should be a hoot!
