Our mini get away (or scoping out the local lakes!)

Kathleen and Mike took the boys to Dallas this week to go to Six Flags and a Texas Ranger baseball game.  We were all set to stay home and babysit dogs.  OK, so let’s go check out this little lake near Spearman – Palo Duro Reservoir.  Just a night.  Take the trailer.  Be nice to get away.07-07-10 Lake Palo Duro near Spearman 2 The lake was so full.  Over the road that went on one side of it.07-07-10 Lake Palo Duro near Spearman 307-07-10 Lake Palo Duro near Spearman 4 07-07-10 Lake Palo Duro near Spearman 5And after a very rainy night. 07-07-10 Lake Palo Duro near Spearman 6 07-07-10 Lake Palo Duro near Spearman 7 Then we decided to travel to Perryton to Lake Fryer.  Another full lake, going over the spillway.  Very nice clean place. I would love to go back and stay again.07-08-10 Lake Pryer 12 07-08-10 Lake Pryer 13 07-08-10 Lake Pryer 17 07-08-10 Lake Pryer 18  07-08-10 Lake Pryer 04 07-08-10 Lake Pryer 0807-08-10 Lake Pryer 07 07-08-10 Lake Pryer 1007-08-10 Lake Pryer 19

OK, that was two lakes, two nights.  I planned for two nights away.  Brought a little extra food and clothes.  So, let’s try another lake.  Hmmm.  Check out Lake Marvin near Canadian in the Gene Howe Wildlife Management area.  Sooooo, I was not impressed with this little lake.  It was full!  And a bit dirty.  No one was there.  So we opted out of staying there.  But I did snap a picture of this cool old windmill!07-09-10 Near Lake Marvin 4 Headed out to try Lake McClellan.  It is south of Pampa really close to I-40 and Groom.  This was another nice lake.  We had electricity and water (as we did at the others).  And another lake that was full to nearly overflowing!07-09-10 Lake McClellan 02 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 04 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 05 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 06 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 08 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 09 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 11 This redheaded woodpecker was really squawking at us!07-09-10 Lake McClellan 15 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 18 07-09-10 Lake McClellan 19 And the fog rolled in this morning!  WOW!07-10-10 Lake McClellan fog 1 That was enough lakes for now.  After we got home we wished we had gone to Baylor Lake.  Next time.
