Easter – and all that family stuff

Easter – celebration of Christ and new beginnings.  And family gatherings.  This year we traveled to unknown places.  We have been to a lot of places in Texas but I don’t guess we have ever been to Earth and certainly not Amherst, Texas.  They are tiny communities in the Texas Panhandle.  Our great niece and her husband, Elizabeth and Michael, invited family to their home near Amherst for Easter dinner and egg hunting.

They live out in the country in an old farm house.  I think they have 40 acres of land and on part of it are his work vehicles.  You will see in the pictures. LOTS of stuff to hide eggs in.  An an old old house on the back of the property.  Servant’s house maybe?

Of course everyone brought food.  It was such a beautiful day – especially after all the bad wind we had that week.

Ricky, a great great nephew (no, not that old but… that’s another story) got a game.  I am not sure what it is called.  You throw the ropes that have balls on the end to fly over the upright pipes.  First it had to be put together.  You know that joke – How many (fill in the blank) doe it take to put together…

And they did get it together.  Even with a part missing.  See:

Oh have to relate one great moment on the way home.  We stopped at a Texas historical site sign.  Ross loves to stop but we rarely have the time or inclination.  Anyway, Ross said “Hey, Zachary, read that sign.”  He did.  With very little help.  And let me tell you, there are some big words on those signs.  Good job, Zachary!  Quit worrying about the TAKS test!

Looks like so much fun! I've been to Earth and that area once. You don't really feel like you are anywhere when you are there...and that's what makes it so nice!
I love your "new look." It shouts spring! I guess it was time to get rid of the frost covered mailboxes huh?
I think my new look should be up by tomorrow. Edie over at Rich Gifts has been working so hard on it for me. I'm excited. Be sure to let me know what you think when I get it up. Then go over to Edie's site and tell her what a good job she did. :)
