Days One and Two

Of what you ask?  Well official out of school days.  I mean, really, Saturday and Sunday do not count.  Yesterday was pretty laid back as Zachary was at a friend’s house most of the day.  Then when he came home he brought a couple of other kids so I had five kids in and out of the house and playing and all that.  Just being kids enjoying a wonderful beautiful day in outside play – the way it should be.

Sunrise yesterday.

Forgot to share some Garage Hockey pictures from Friday first.  The kids set up goals with Coke cases and the puck was soon a smashed soft drink can (after they got some trash shoved around!).  They had more fun.  One would drop the “puck” and the others went to work.

Today was cooler.  WAY cooler.  I think our high might have made 45.  But some cool clouds this morning.

So today first we built a gingerbread house.  That was fun but boy are they hard to get to stay up.  Then we made peanut patties and fudge.

Finally, we went to see a train.  This man has taken some old trains and buildings and has been rebuilding and fixing them up.  Zane pointed out that he really needs an engine.  If you know where there is one…

I think that takes care of the last couple of days.  Back tomorrow.  Or maybe Thursday.

Four shopping days left!

Merry Christmas

I am ready – just about.  I have three small gifts to buy.  Those I will pick up tomorrow while I am out.  I am ready for a bit of a slowdown around here too.  Not that I will have much of that with boys around!

So, how are you celebrating Christmas?  Do you have a celebration on Christmas Eve, just Christmas Day?  We go to Ross’s sister and brother-in-law’s house Christmas Eve and have a dinner and open presents there.  Then we go home and Christmas Day have a dinner and open presents with my side of the family.  I am fixing enchiladas again this year.  We decided for something different for Christmas.  I think everyone enjoys it.  And of course everyone chips in something.  Cynthia is bringing white chili chicken soup; Molly salad and pumpkin empanadas; Kathleen Spanish rice.  We will have plenty to eat.

Memories of Christmas past are so bittersweet this year.  Remembering Mom and Dad and our times as a children.

OK, so going to share some photos – of course!  Zane at his Christmas party at Mother’s Day Out.

In line to go to the party.  So cute.

The kids are told to “catch a bubble” and grab their hands.  The bubble is to be kept in their mouth and don’t pop it!  In other words, no talking.  See Zane’s face!

And enjoying the party!

Zachary’s school party.  First they had assembly and sang some cute holiday songs. You know, no Christian songs. That would not do.  Sheesh!

Zane loved it!  He sang right along.  Then chaos and I actually got a shot of Zachary.

To the classroom for the party.  Zane just was in such awe. The kids all loved it.

There was a live music group there as well.  One of them was the granddad of one of the students and was in town for a concert.  Zachary is being a great big brother and holding Zane and just listening.  Both boys really enjoyed the party.

Here are some pictures of the sky I took the other morning.  Thanks to Cynthia for the heads up on looking at the sky.

And then this huge flock of geese that went flying over while I was out shopping.  I just love looking up and watching them and hearing their calls.

I will have boys the next few days and then Christmas. Think I better update a bit more often?  Yep, probably.  We have plans…
