The month of June is nearly over!

It is so hard to believe how fast this month is traveling.  We have been so busy with trips to the library, the zoo, soccer tournament, football, swimming, camping arrangements.  And I am so ready for a vacation!

It is HOT HOT HOT lately.  Yesterday was close to 100 although I did not hear what the official high was.  Just let me tell you again it was HOT!

I have new pictures loaded on webshots but just have to share a few here of course.  Seems like right off the bat Zachary was "bored".  Surely your kids are never BORED in the summer??  No!!  No way!?!?  Really?  Zachary really likes to stay at his house when we can because there are more kids in his neighborhood. I understand that.  So we were there but either no one was home or they could not play.  So I caught the boys just sitting in the front yard.  Cute huh?

Zachary had a soccer tournament one Saturday.  The weather was not too bad.  We expected to be there for two, possibly three games then be eliminated.  Oh, we just had no idea!  These boys played like they meant it and tied the first game then won the next two.  That put them in the championship game.  They won!  That meant they won first place in their age group!!!  Wow!  Zachary was just so so so happy.  Great tournament, Arsenal!  (The two different colored shirts on same day was for if you were designated Home or Visitor.)

That evening he had a football game.  Talk about one tired family and one very tired athlete!!!

We had Fathers Day at Kathleen's this year and took advantage of her new kitchen.  It was great!  We set up three tables and had plenty of room for everyone to mill around and even sit and eat.  Everyone went outside later to take advantage of the beautiful post rain day and play in the yard.  Guys played football, some played on the trampoline.  It really was a wonderful day.06-20-09 Father's Day gathering 0406-20-09 Father's Day gathering 0706-20-09 Father's Day gathering 08 06-20-09 Father's Day gathering 11  06-20-09 Father's Day gathering 1406-20-09 Father's Day gathering 22 06-20-09 Father's Day gathering 36  06-20-09 Father's Day gathering 35  06-20-09 Father's Day gathering 2906-20-09 Father's Day gathering 37

I just took the boys to the zoo this week.  Vi and I took them one morning about 9:30 to try to miss the heat.  And you are not going to believe this - I forgot my camera!  Yes, me!!  I was not happy with me.  But I did manage to capture some photos on my phone and they came out pretty good.

At first the monkeys were in the cage but after the food was put out for them, out they came.  Kids just love the monkeys. The lions were really active.  The male and one female were growling and spitting and swiping at each other.  Not sure if it was play or what!

I think the only animal we just did not see was the tiger.  They were cleaning the cage so it was put away and was not out before we left.

We took a picnic lunch, let the kids play a bit.  Vi set out a bag of ice, let it melt, and then gave the kids a drink of water from it.  They had a lot of fun letting her squirt it into their mouths!  It was a great morning.

They boys are going to Mothers' Day Out right now.  Actually, they just went this week for two days.  Zachary loved it.  Zane likes it but he has been before of course.  For Zachary they really do some cool things with that age.  They made rubber eggs - "Nana, that is chemistry" when I said something about that being science!  And they made jello, more chemistry apparently.  Then Wednesday they made paper mache'.  And they have seen some cool movies.  When he goes back in a couple of weeks she is planning on making peanut butter playdo.  Interesting.  Zachary will be in basketball camp next week so he will not be there and I think he is disappointed.  I think it is great that they are doing something for the older ones this summer.  And gives parents a break from "bored".

Gotta run.  Have laundry and grocery store and Dad and all kinds of stuff to do.  A typical Saturday!

Catching up - more!

I said I would try to be back and catch up a bit more and here it is.  Let's see, where did I leave off.  OK, football.  Ahh, swimming lessons.  Both boys love the pool.  We have a small one - 12 feet by 30 inches deep I think - and they have one that is 18 feet by 42 or 48 inches deep.

Zachary has had lessons for a few years so each year he just gets better.  We started him at age 5.  Zane loves the water.  Loves it.  So what else to do but start him in lessons too.

Zachary took right off.  After class the first day his teacher told me he was an excellent student and if it was ok she would work with him a bit more and also have him help her teach the other three how to swim.  She told me he listened to what she said and did what was asked.  He is really a good kid.

Zane is still so timid.  He has a bravado of "Yes, I can!" but when you get right to it, uh uh!  So it takes him a little bit of time and coaxing to let his teacher work with him.  But once he gets more confident, hang on!  He will just get going.  However, he is three and it is hard to get him to listen too much.  I am sure he will learn a lot right along with Zachary.  It will just take a few more lessons!

This was a short burst of a lot of wind that carried a lot of dirt with it.  Amazing since it had just rained that morning.  We still need more rain.

Oh, quick report on a trip to the library.  We have an indoor football league here called the Dusters.  Two of the players were going to be at the library to read to the kids, share what they do, and play a little football.  For Zachary this was just perfect!  One was a wide receiver and one a defensive back.  Here are some pictures of that visit.  As always, visit my Webshots gallery and see LOTS more photos.  I just updated it.

I am still working on the camper but have all the screens fixed now.  Just about a month and we will be off on vacation.  We cannot wait!  Zane keeps asking when we are going to Yellowstone.  Soon, baby, soon!

OK, two more pictures then I quit for now.  I need to try to update this blog at least twice a week the way the summer is going - fast!  These are just a couple of photos I got of the boys the other days on bikes/scooters.  Zane does whatever Zachary does usually.  Check on the hats.
